Present:
President Carol Oglivie, Kerrie Diers, Nancy Larson, Ross Moldoff, Steve Whitman,
June Hammond Rowan
Roll Call:
The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m.
Minutes of Meetings
on 8/26/03 & 9/25/03:
The minutes of August 26, 2003 and September 25, 2003 were reviewed. Whitman
made a motion to accept both. Larson seconded the motion and all were in favor.
Treasurer’s
Report:
Steffen was not present so there was no Treasurer’s Report.
Membership Directory:
Whitman reported that there are major problems and errors with the NHPA Directory.
He has reviewed the situation with NHMA. Apparently, their databases are conflicting.
The Committee felt that it was important to have the Directory as accurate as
possible, even if publication is postponed. Whitman wants NHMA to make the corrections
then edit it again before publication. It was the consensus that the date on
the directory ought to be removed and a publication date added. In addition,
it should be published after the upcoming elections for Executive Committee
members. It was also decided that the Directory might be published every two
years, instead of every year.
Whitman noted that the delay in publication has given more time to get advertisers to help offset publication costs.
Handbook:
The Committee is interested in producing a member handbook. Diers has the Strategic
Plan and is waiting for the Bylaws from Rowan. Diers will contact NHMA to work
out with them how it will be published or if it can just be posted on the website.
Newsletter:
Larson is waiting for a president’s message for the newsletter. Larson
will send out a note on PlanLink for recent information for the grapevine section.
Executive Committee
Nominations:
The list of potential nominations for the Executive Committee was reviewed.
They list is as follows:
| President | Kerrie Diers |
| Vice President | Nancy Larson |
| Secretary | June Hammond Rowan |
| Treasurer | Jamie Steffen |
| Legislative Committee | Ben Frost |
| Professional Development | Steve Whitman |
| Public Information Officer | Carol Ogilvie |
| Newsletter Editor | Jim Campbell |
| Newsletter Editor | Christa Koehler |
| NNECAPA Rep | Angie Rapp |
The Committee agreed that this list was acceptable. Rowan will work with NHMA on getting out a ballot.
Annual Meeting:
The NHPA Annual Meeting will be on November 13 at the NHMA Conference. The new
director of the NH Office of Energy and Planning (Mary Ann Manoogian) will speak
at the conference at 1:30 p.m. with the meeting at 3:30 p.m. The Committee discussed
that there will likely be time between Mary Ann’s talk and the meeting
which would be a good opportunity for a planner’s round table forum. This
would also give Mary Ann a chance to meet planners in the state and also learn
about the state of the planners.
Legislative Issues:
Whitman had no new news to report. He noted that Ben Frost, if elected, would
be a good Legislative Chair as he has been involved in legislative issues for
OSP (now OEP). Rowan suggested that perhaps NHPA could do more lobbying in the
future.
APA Audio Conferences:
NHPA will sponsor the APA Audio Conferences this year. They will be held at
OEP and OEP will distribute materials from the conferences to anyone that requests
them.
Other Business:
Rowan mentioned that at the NNECAPA conference, Evan Richert from Maine is hoping
to put together a group of people from various disciplines for a study on density.
Each state planner association is to send him the name of a representative.
Ken N from Lebanon and Allison Barker from Laconia both were interested. The
Committee felt that Ken had more experience in planning in NH and should serve
on this study. Alison would be a good resource for additional focus groups.
Next Meeting:
The next meeting will be the Annual Meeting on November 13 at 3:30 p.m. at the
NHMA conference. After that, the Committee will meet on the second Thursday
of the month at 9:00 a.m. at NHMA.
Respectfully Submitted,
June Hammond Rowan
Secretary
