Treasurer’s Report
B. Frost will be taking the place of J. Steffen as treasurer and explained that he will be getting the financial records from J. Steffen, but at this time he has nothing new to present.
NNECAPA Update
- CD Workshops: There are CD workshops planned for 2/13/2008 at NHHFA on Inclusionary Zoning and Mastering Density and on 5/21/2008 at NRPC on Brownfields and LEED. The group discussed whether or not these workshops should be advertised to a larger audience including planners from Maine and Vermont, as well as professionals in related fields. It was decided that the notice should be sent first to APA and NHPA members and then could be advertised on planlink. Availability will be on a first come first serve basis, and the individuals registering will need to RSVP to the host organization.
NHPA 2008 Conference
K. Diers provided an overview of the NHPA Conference Organizing Group (COG). The conference will be on May 15 and 16, 2008 at the Radisson Hotel in Nashua. COG members currently include S. Thibault, A. Vincent, J. Czysz, Rick Sawyer, Linda Ajello, and possibly Nancy Larson.
K. Diers left the meeting at 10:30.
Legislative Update
- Legislative Priorities: C. Mitchell, B. Frost, and K. Diers will serve on the NHPA Legislative Committee. C. Mitchell will be the chair and the group will meet to discuss legislative priorities and report back to the Executive Committee.
- Conversation with Nancy Johnson, Lobbyist: Nancy Johnson met with the group to discuss her proposal to contract with NHPA as a professional lobbyist. She will testify on behalf of NHPA in Concord and will communicate regularly with the Legislative Committee and Executive Committee. There is no formal contract; the proposal gives NHPA the ability to terminate the services at any time. B. Frost moved to hire Nancy Johnson as a lobbyist to work on behalf of NHPA. S. Thibault seconded the motion. B. Frost suggested sending this motion out to the Executive Committee by email along with Nancy’s proposal. The Legislative Committee will create a spreadsheet to track bills and identify legislative priorities. The Committee will also communicate with Nancy Johnson.
Newsletters
There is nothing new to report at this time.
Old and New Business
- NHPA Directory: B. Frost suggested that NHPA not update the directory again this year. J. Czysz suggested providing a directory of planning consultants on the website. NHPA could charge a small fee to the consultants for the advertising opportunity. The group discussed who would be responsible for sponsorships, the treasurer is responsible for the chart of accounts and the Public Information Officer or the Vice President would be in charge of the coordination of sponsorships. The Vice President is in charge of updating the directory.
Next Executive Committee Meeting
The next committee meeting will be January 24, 2008.
