Annual Meeting
June 21, 2006 Draft
Executive Committee Members Present:
Christa Koehler, Jim Campbell, Rebecca Hebert, Jamie Steffen, Ben Frost, Pierce Rigrod
President J. Campbell called the meeting to order at 9:35 a.m.
Newletter:
Members discussed the newsletter progress and content. Items discussed included the following:
- Move the outdated newsletter to the archive page on the website.
- Ben will write an article on recent court decisions for a legislative update.
- C. Koehler wrote two articles about Clean Air Cool Planet program, a short and long article. Either article could be used in the newsletter depending on the amount of space available and layout.
- Audrey Bentley is the contact at the Local Government Center (LGC) for the newsletter.
- J. Campbell will update the President’s Message.
- P. Rigrod will provide an article summarizing the new EPA LID documents.
- A. Vincent will provide information regarding the NNECAPA conference and NHPA awards.
- The content of the newsletter does not need to be reviewed by Committee members. Content should be forwarded directly to P. Rigrod he will proof the final layout and forward the final documents to the LGC. Articles should be sent to P. Rigrod by the end of the month.
NNECAPA:
The LGC will not be providing services for regional conference planning after this year.
- The registration material is about to be sent out.
- John Harrigan will replace Lew Feldstein as keynote speaker on Friday.
Minutes:
- J. Steffen made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 25, 2006 meeting as amended; the motion was seconded by C. Koehler. Motion passed 5/0/1. B. Frost abstained.
Treasurer’s Report:
- J. Steffen reported that NHPA has $200 in membership renewals. B. Frost motioned to accept the report, P. Rigrod seconded. Motion passed. 6/0
Strategic Plan:
- Members should review the Strategic Plan on their own time and make sure their responsibilities reflect what is outlined in the Strategic Plan.
Legislative Update:
- B. Frost provided an update on legislative issues.
- SB 1508 has been signed; this will vest planning board applications from the time that they are first advertised to the public provided the final plans are submitted within 12 months of the end of the design review process.
- HB 1508 may be a good Fall Newsletter topic.
- SB 140 was signed. This changes wetland mitigation procedures allowing money be charged on a per acre amount for the restoration or creation of wetlands and the preservation of upland areas adjacent to wetlands.
New Business/Old Business:
- Elections are coming up J. Campbell, B. Frost, and K. Diers are up for re-election. Something should be placed in the newsletter to solicit volunteers. J. Campbell, P. Rigrod, J. Steffen and R. Hebert will be on the nominating committee. All new members will serve a 3-year term. Election is by ballot and results are announced at the annual meeting. Elections should be added to the next meeting’s agenda.
- J. Campbell reviewed the LGC affiliate agreement. The LGC will not be doing any regional event management.
- NHPA was charged for a search engine fee for the website, ask LGC to look into the service fee and check to see what key words are listed for the website.
Next Executive Committee Meeting:
The next Executive Committee meeting will be July 27, 2006 at 9:30 am at the Local Government Center.
