New Hampshire Planners Association
Meeting
September 25, 2003, Approved October 9, 2003

Present:
Nancy Larson, Jamie Steffen, Steve Whitman, Laura Scott, Mark Fougere, June Hammond Rowan

Roll Call:
The meeting was called to order at 4:20 p.m. The meeting was held at the NNECAPA Conference in Concord, NH.

Executive Committee Nominations:
Rowan announced that the Executive Committee was seeking nominations for positions on the Executive Committee. The positions were reviewed. NHPA members present were encouraged to volunteer and let the Executive Committee know what positions they may be interested in.

APA Audio Conferences:
Whitman reported that the Office of State Planning and Energy Programs has agreed to host the APA Audio Conferences. It was the consensus of those present that they are worthwhile and that NHPA should pay for the conferences. All are invited to them. There will be an announcement on PlanLink as to the dates and topics.

DOT Conference on Traffic Calming:
Whitman stated that Ansel Sanborn from NHDOT is interested in bringing planners and traffic engineers together for a conference on Traffic Calming issues. Everyone felt this was a good idea. Charles Watson questioned what the real focus of the conference would be. NHDOT is just looking for interest from planners at this time. There was discussion on the benefit of the conference a few years ago at Loon with planners and engineers.

Newsletter:
The format of the newsletter was discussed. It was suggested that it might be more efficient to publish it electronically via email. The Executive Committee will consider this.

NHPA Conference:
The NHPA members present all felt that all NHPA conference in 2004 was important to have. A show of hands revealed that people were in favor of a spring conference over a winter conference and that Waterville Valley is a good location. Possible topics for the conference include covering some or all of the 9 points of concern to planners outlined by the speaker at lunch at the NNECAPA conference.

Rowan suggested that NHPA could also sponsor a few days during the year for an informal gathering of NHPA members, such as a ski day or some other activity in the summer. The opportunity for networking is important.

Next Meeting:
The next meeting of the Executive Committee is scheduled for October 9 at 9 a.m. at NHMA.

Respectfully Submitted,
June Hammond Rowan
Secretary
